We all amateurs. The gretest sailplanes in the world have glide ratios over 60:1, meaning for every foot they drop, they move forward sixty. Birds, at best, have 15:1, they’re just bettter at flying than we are.

I wonder what their weight to wing span is. Mountains are awesome for updrafts, you’ll notice that they actually close their wings to shed altitude; plus, as birds they the advantage flapping their wings to gain more altitude if its needed, and they are just amazing areal acrobats.

A glider on the other hand can do only that, so it would need that huge glide ratio.

Id love to know what it must be like to fly as a bird. A plane is totally wack in comparison.
